Our Rooms

The Acorn Room

Ages Two to Three

This room focuses on learning through play in a safe, friendly and caring environment. The Acorn room focuses on three main areas of learning: communication and language, personal social and emotional development, and physical development. The room also hosts group and table top activities to support development in sharing, taking turns, and independence skills. Free choice activities include: topic week play, early language skills, creative play and story time.  A nominated key person works closely with your child to track their progress throughout the year, providing you with a memorable keepsake of your child's life at Whittington.

The Oak Room

Ages Three to Four

In this room we follow the seven key areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage, helping to prepare the childern for primary school, these are: personal social and emotional, physical, communication and language, literacy, mathematics, understanding the world and expressive art and design. The Oak Room continues to focus on learning through play, balancing this with activities to extend and develop confidence, independence and relationships. Your child's key worker will continue to track and record their progress. Profiles and journals are transferred from the Acorn Room (or from other settings).
